Are you looking for a new hiking adventure? If so, consider tackling Kungsleden in Sweden.
Kungsleden is the Swedish “King’s Trail” that takes hikers through some of the most stunning parts of northern Sweden. This 400-kilometer-long hike passes through vast forests, shimmering lakes, and past sweeping views of rugged mountains and deep valleys. Along the way, you can explore and experience everything that Swedish nature has to offer. Kungsleden is one of the best hikes in Sweden now as well as in the northern Europe.
The trail runs from Abisko to Hemavan, in the heart of Lapland. If you’re up for the challenge, the entire trip can be done in about five to six weeks, depending on your speed and the amount of time you plan on stopping to explore the surrounding areas. Alternatively, you can hike sections of the trail to break it up into a few smaller hikes over multiple weeks.
A wide variety of wildlife inhabit the Kungsleden, making it an amazing place to observe nature and maybe even spot some rare species. The entire trail is free to hike, although certain huts and shelters cost a nominal fee. Be sure to research the various areas and to plan ahead so that you don’t end up stuck in a difficult or remote location.
Kungsleden is truly an incredible hiking experience, one that should be experienced by everyone at least once in their lifetime. So don your hiking gear, gather some provisions, and head off for an adventure of a lifetime!
